We didn’t have to wait much time. The starters were ok and the food, Beef, was very nice. For a restaurant that was full, the service was also very... Would recommend coming here for some authentic German food in a nice environment. They also have a nice breakfast buffet on weekends which is also quite popular.

Definitely avoid as it is not worth a visit. We had high expectations of Depot 1899, but were let down by the food. I had the beef goulash and the beef was dry.
My Beef Burger was also only average at best (for an above-average price). Overall definitely a disappointing experience and not a restaurant I would visit for a second time. I have visited this restaurant several times with family and also hosting groups of students. I recommend the local Frankfurt alcoholic beverage, Apfelwein, which is served in larger containers, called "Bembel"s, and which can be mixed with mineral water or Fanta.

The food was awful, the service was worse. And while the prices aren't totally over the top, they are quite steep considering that the helpings were rather small. Though that point is moot because I didn't think food of that quality was worth paying for... Main I ordered a Schnitzel and it was so tough I had to leave half of it. The waiters walk so fast that can’t see customer that need attention and meet by the bar where they laugh and talk. It took them literally an hour to clear my plate after I finished my main After clearing my plate, no question was asked and now after 15 minutes I am still waiting for my bill.
As good as the location is, as great as the food is, with No Service at all how can this unique place stay and survive?? As every Gastronom knows the heart of all is the outstanding service that brings people in again. We were looking for gluten-free restaurants and found the "gluten-free tag" for this place on tripadvisor. Unfortunately, they don't have a gluten-free meal, we had to explain many times our needing and we had only two choices from the menu. It was my first time in this restaurant. It was an organised dinner for 11 people.

Something for everyone on the menu -- multiple schnitzel choices; goulash looked great;... 10/4 will be black, white, green, red. Them another 30 minutes, by which time the others had already finished their meals.
I've seen some poor reviews lately. Honestly that was not our experience at all. The restaurant is right around the corner from our office in Frankfurt, so we're frequent guests and will continue to give Depot 1899 our business.

This is quite a big place and somewhat popular right next to Sudbahnhof. German food and local Frankfurt dishes are the specialty. I came here for a few days in a row for lunch as part of a group. The food was always well prepared... And my salad was huge, fresh and tasty.

Lots of negative reviews - but not sure I went to the same restraunt! Very busy - but we were sat upstairs and told we should be patient. Service however was superb - wasnt rushed and wasnt quick - perfect for a longer dinner. I had dinner there with a couple of friends. After we had placed our order, it took them over an hour until the food was finally served. Well, actually only the food my friends had ordered, because they had completely forgotten my order.
